The Ethical Dimension of Care and Aid Initiatives Aimed at Supporting Children’s Development on the Example of the “Adoption of the Heart” Program

The article presents educational, care and aid activities carried out for children in Rwanda. As a result of the civil war in this country in 1994, several hundred thousand children were orphaned. Real emergency situation of children affected by the phenomenon of orphanhood has launched a wide intervention and compensation activities of diverse entities and milieus. Various assistance programs were created. “Adoption of the Heart”, a movement for children in Africa in which the Society of Pallotines is involved is an example of such initiatives. The author would like to point out that proper care and educational process should be carried out in such a way as not to interfere with the natural development of children’s independence, regardless of their age.Artykuł przedstawia działalność opiekuńczo-wychowawczą i pomocową realizowaną na rzecz dzieci w Rwandzie. W wyniku wojny domowej w tym kraju w 1994 r. osieroconych zostało kilkaset tysięcy dzieci. Sytuacja rzeczywistego zagrożenia dzieci dotkniętych zjawiskiem sieroctwa uruchomiła szeroką działalność interwencyjną i kompensacyjną różnych środowisk i podmiotów. Powstawały różne programy pomocowe. Jedną z takich inicjatyw jest ruch na rzecz dzieci w Afryce o nazwie „Adopcja Serca”, w którą zaangażowało się Zgromadzenie Pallotynów. Autor pragnie ukazać, że prawidłowy proces opiekuńczo-wychowawczy powinien być realizowany w taki sposób, aby nie zakłócić naturalnego rozwoju samodzielności dziecka, bez względu na jego wiek
